I feel that Miles Macdonald is really important because he was the Goevenor of the Red River Settlement and also made the Pemmican Proclamation.

I feel that one of the most important events to happen to Manitoba was the railroad. It made travel much more easy for immigrants to get to Manitoba to settle. Because of the railroad, Manitoba's population boomed incredibly. I think if the railroad was not brought to Manitoba, out roots would not be nearly as deep that they are today.

I feel that Louis Riel was the most important person in the history of Manitoba. I think he is because, he fought for metis rights and he lead the Riel Rebellions.

I feel that the most important events in the manitoba history is the Rebellions that Louis Reil lead becuase he lead the Metis people in a fight for there rights. it made manitoba who it is today because even though they didnt win they took a stand and made a difference in the province.

I think that Miles Macdonell is one of the more imporant people in the history of Manitoba. I think this becuase he is the one who sent settlers out to set up a settlement in the Red River settlement. He is the one who wanted his explorers to become settlers and live in Manitoba year round. he wanted them to become permanent settlers. If Miles Macdonell didn't decide this then who knows what Manitoba would be like today. We could be a different culture and may not have been the same.

Danielle--why was the Pemmican Proclamation so important to the Metis and the NWC?

Alex--great idea--without the railway, people would be portaging still back then, which would hinder the immigration rate

Tracy--I also agree that Riel was very important as well. I wonder what Manitoba would be like if he didnt' take a stand and the List of Rights never existed...

Alli--very interesting comments. I agree with you totally about the importance of Riel to Mb history.

Baillee--interesting choice of people.I wonder what would have happened if Macdonnell didn't help set up the colony. Who would have been the first immigrants to settle here?

I think that manitoba is inportant beacuse it became a province cause if it did not become a province then we would not be as sucsesfull as we are today thanks to Miles Macdonell, the Metis, Louis Riel
