Do you feel that Louis Riel should be considered the father of Manitoba? Why or why not?

I think that Louis Riel is partly the father of Manitoba. He has helped shaped Manitoba to the way it is today and has made a big difference. He made the List of Rights and fought in the Riel Rebellion. He made a huge difference and fought for what he believed in, but he wasn't the only one who made Manitoba and fought for it. there were many who did this so i don't really think you can name anyone the father of Manitoba. it was different people who did different things for our province, one man didn't make the difference or the province all on his own.

I think that Louis Riel is one of the father's of Manitoba. Riel was metis, and so he helped fight for their rights and freedoms. Along side the metis he created the Bill of Rights. He made a huge difference and helped to shape Manitoba into what it is today. There were many who helped shape Manitoba into what it is today they were others who fought for what they believed in so it wouldn't be fair to the others who helped build Manitoba into the province that it is today.

I dont know if i consider Louis Riel the only father of Manitoba becuase he wasnt the only one who shaped are province. i beleive that he made a large impact on Manitoba, like helping the metis, leading 2 rebellions, writing the list of rights. He always fought for what he beleived in. So yes he is a very important person in are history, but i dont think he is the only father of Manitoba.

I think Riel had a great deal to do with Manitoba but The Father of Manitoba? Really???? He spent very little time in Manitoba. He was in SK for a great deal of time and then hid down in the states for a while and even spent some time in the looney bin. Before coming back and fighting the government again. Oh and he killed Thomas Scott, a government man. I don't think he should be consider the Father of Manitoba but he should be complemented on fighting for equal rights for all people

i think louis riel had the right idea but just went about it the wrong way he should have just talked to the Prime minister instead of shooting up the place

Riel helped shape the country so he is partly the father of Manitobe. Other people helped make the province what it is today but Riel got the title.
